Yorke Peninsula Accommodation

Activities

The Yorke Peninsula’s and surrounding areas is one of South Australia’s premier tourist destinations.  Julia Park is remote enough for privacy, while still just a short drive from spectacular sights, food and entertainment.

Here are some suggestions:

Drop a line in placid waters, off your own secluded beach and perhaps catch a yellow fin whiting for dinner.

Picnic on the foreshore – with your own secluded beach front it’s almost as if it’s your own.  When the tide is in you have the beach and placid calm waters of St Vincent’s gulf virtually to yourself.

Boating – Put your boat in at the public ramp at Port Julia and moor out the front.

Visit the spectacular Innes National Park.  Set along rugged coastline with spectacular scenery, the southern tip of the Yorke Peninsula is known locally as ‘the bottom end’ and is home to Innes National Park.  One of Australia’s finest parks, it attracts many visitors keen to experience the Park’s natural bush land appeal, flora and fauna, and cultural heritage.

Get crabbing – this area is well known for the popular pastime of crabbing.

Visit – Port Julia jetty, one of the old time barley and wheat ports.

View - the developing marina at Port Vincent and enjoy fine wine, food and cold beer at the Ventnor Hotel.

Experience – Harvest Corner and Craft YP Visitor Information Centre located in Minlaton.  This info centre houses many quality crafts, local produce, internet café, fresh coffee and home made cakes are also available.

Take a morning walk along ‘Julia Park’ beach – with the sun reflecting off clear blue water and the natural surrounds, you will never forget a morning walk along this private little beach.

A thriving sea port – Ardrossan is well known for its huge grain facility.  The port also has extensive facilities for shipping dolomite that is mined by Onesteel.  The mine site just west of Ardrossan has a lookout which offers spectacular views.

Stansbury seaside markets - conducted on the foreshore on various weekends from October through to April, these markets are special.  Most items are locally hand made with some great bargains on local produce, plants and art.
